Fundraising made easy

Your fundraising means so much right now. At a time when much of Marie Curie’s fundraising has been put on hold, your challenge will mean one family will get the compassionate care of a Marie Curie nurse for a whole night, providing expert support when they need it most.

Laura completed her virtual run in 2020 after her mum Lesley was cared for by Marie Curie before she died in June 2020.

“What reassured me is that with Marie Curie’s support, Mum didn’t die alone in a hospital. She was in a family home, surrounded by her family: my brother, sister-in-law, my dad, and the grandchildren. It was a positive end of life experience for all of us.

“It’s nice to be giving something back to a charity that meant so much to Mum. That’s what I tell myself when I’m plodding the streets at 6am.”

Our best tried-and-tested fundraising tips

  1. Get a plan in place early by organising when you’re going to log your minutes. Doing a run over the weekend? Let your friends and family know and have them join you! Please make sure you follow all government guidelines and stay safe.
  2. Make your fundraising page stand out. Include your reasons for running in the ‘Story’ section of your JustGiving page. Personalised pages raise 74% more on average - especially if there’s a photo.
  3. Spread the word to your friends, family and network. Share via social media, word of mouth, or by wearing your Marie Curie shirt. You’re doing something amazing and people will want to support you... as long as they know it's happening!
  4. Ask the boss! Find out if your employer offers matched giving or would like to give a donation. In the meantime, add your donation page link to your email signature and see if you can publicise your story on your intranet to help generate sponsorship.
  5. Thank your sponsors to show your appreciation. If you thank and tag your donors on social media, more people will learn about your challenge and you’ll raise even more vital funds.
